Student Competitions

Our students specialize in hands on design and development of electrical and electronic systems. In order to promote and develop this hands-on focus, many of our students participate in a competition team. Here are a few of the competition teams available for your consideration.

Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (Submarine) Team
The submarine robotics team competes annually in the AUVSI international competition in San Diego, California. Each year the team is faced with numerous underwater challenges. Submarine design explores embedded systems, DSP, sonar, vision systems, navigational systems, etc. Click on the Submarine Robotics Team link above to learn more.
IEEE Robotics
The SPSU student chapter of the IEEE participates in an annual robotics competition during the IEEE Southeast Regional Conference. Each year the task is different and requires a number of innovative design strategies to meet each new challenge. Click on the IEEE Robotics link above to learn more.
Arial Robotics
The SPSU arial robotics team competes in the AUVSI international arial robotics competition. This team uses an autonomous helicoptor as their base platform and is often tasked with building a secondary ground vehicle for various tasks. Click on the Arial Robotics link above to learn more.
